Walking through life, you keep me sane
You're like the first drop of summer rain.
I know you have places to go
But girl, won't you take it slow?
We grew up together and just how
I see that you're a woman now.
I'm no li'll boy myself, I know
So where did all the good times go?
Words we shared and things we did,
Since the time when we were kids,
And after that the tears and pain;
And the walks down old small lanes.
Time goes by and we change fast.
But you and I make good times last.
We drifted away, we drifted far
Till each of us was a dying star.
And there was no Us.
After so much time,
At the coffee shop
I sat and wished that time would stop.
And I look at you,
My friend, my girl
A vision of loveliness.
Dark rivers of hair,
And graceful movements
Bring out the woman in you,
Unseen for ages.
Your eyes, they sparkle with joy.
And that sudden streak of mischief
Is that girl I knew from school
And your smile,
It makes me wonder,
My friend.
Good times...
Why do they end?
